President:
Mr. Gao Shangquan
He was born in September 1929 in the Jiading
County of Shanghai and graduated from the department
of economics in the Shanghai St Jones University
in 1952. He is a professor and senior researcher.
From 1982, he served as Division Chief and Deputy
Director-general of SCRES and Head of China Economic
System Restructuring Institute. He was Vice Minister
of SCRES from 1985 to 1993 and was the member
of the Eighth and Ninth National Committee of
the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference
(CPPCC). As the president of CRES starting from
1999, he is also the member of the Committee for
Development Policy of UN, chairman of the board
of directors of China Reform Foundation, president
of China Society for Enterprise Reform and Development,
president of China (Hainan) Institute for Reform
and Development, as well as professor and doctoral
tutor of Beijing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong
University, Zhejiang University and Nankai University,
and president of the Industrial and Commercial
School of Zhejiang University.
He has written quite a number of books during
his 20 years’ work in reform. His major books
published home and abroad include: Two Decades
of Reform in China, Second Revolution, China’s
Economic Reform, On China’s Market Economy, Market
Economy and China’s Reform, China’s Economic System
Reform, Collection of Gao Shangquan, On System
Innovation, etc, altogether 15 monographs. He
is the editor-in-chief of over 30 economic books
with wide influence on reform and development.
