Vice
President: Mr. Fan Gang
He was born in Beijing in September 1953, graduated
from the Economic Department of Hubei University
in 1982 and got the Master’s Degree from the Graduate
School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in
1988. He is a senior research fellow, professor
and the National Outstanding Young & Middle-aged
Expert.
He worked in the farm of Heilongjiang Production
and Construction Corps and went to Weichang County
of Hubei in 1975. In 1978 he was enrolled into
the Political Economics Department of the Economic
Department of Hubei University and entered the
Economic Department of the Graduate School of
Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to study the
Western Economics in 1982. He stayed in the National
Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and Harvard
University of USA as a visiting scholar (1985-1987).
He got Ph. D. in economics and started to work
in the Economic Research Institute of CASS in
1988. He was conferred "Sun-yefang Award
for Outstanding Economic Thesis" in 1991.
He was Director of Economic Research Journal (1992—1993),
the doctoral tutor of CASS in 1993 and Deputy
Director of Institute of Economics (1994-1995).
He is a Vice President of CSER, Secretary General
of CRF and Head of the National Economic Research
Institute.
The recent research fields are macro-economics
and systematic economics. He is entrusted to conduct
research and offer consultations and suggestions
on economic and policy problems to governmental
agencies and local governments. He is the economic
consultant to the World Bank, UNDP, ESCAP, OECD
and other international organizations, has been
invited to give lectures, attend academic meetings
and conduct cooperative research by many countries
and published quite a few English essays in international
economic magazines. His opinions on China’s economy
are often quoted by domestic and foreign newspapers,
magazines and TVs.
